THE GOSPEL
ACCORDING TO JOHN
Chapter
12
“Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Beth’-a-ny, where
Laz’-a-rus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.” (Verse 1)
Lord Jesus Christ, I worship Thee as God of the living. I
worship Thee as the God Who hath All Power over death. I worship Thee as the
Resurrection Who hath Almighty Power to raise dead people back to life again. I
worship Thee as Eternal Life. I worship Thee as My Creator God Who can keep me
alive forever. Please be My Resurrection and Eternal Life and keep me alive
forever. Save me from the power of death.
“”There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Laz’-a-rus was
one of them that sat at the table with him.” (Verse 2)
Lord Jesus, I desire to serve Thee. Please guide me
perfectly into the service Thou hast ordained for me now. I also desire to sit
at the table of fellowship with Thee, just as Lazarus did. Please come into my
life and sup with me and allow me to sup with Thee forever.
“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and
anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was
filled with the odour of the ointment.” (Verse 3)
Heavenly Father, please now cause all present-day Christian
women who have willing cut their hair short to think on how that they have
chosen to render themselves incapable of rendering unto Thee this wonderful
service that Mary did by wiping Thy Feet with her hair. Lord Jesus, please
teach me how I can presently anoint Thee, even tho Thou art not physically
present here with me. May the world around me always be filled with the sweet
odour of my honourable service unto Thee.
“Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Is-car’-i-ot, Simon’s son,
which should betray him,” (Verse 4)
Lord Jesus Christ, by Thy Almighty Power, please keep me
from ever betraying Thee. Please create within me a heart that will always
daily, boldly and proudly, proclaim to everyone that Thou art my First Love.
Please keep me ever faithful and true to Thee, Lord Jesus.
“Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to
the poor?” (Verse 5)
Almighty Lord God, please always guard and perfect my
motives and my speech so that they are always right and honourable unto
God.
“This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a
thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.” (Verse 6)
Heavenly Father, please keep me from the sin of ever
stealing any thing in any way at all. I now intercede for the salvation of all
the thieves on this earth. Smite them all with the fear of Almighty God.
“Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept
this.” (Verse
7)
Lord Jesus, please cause me to always take full heed to
this clear warning of Thine, and thus to never speak against, hinder, or oppose
in any way, any person who is doing Thy Will and doing good unto Thee. Please
make me fully aware of how fearful a sin it is to hinder anyone’s service unto
Thee.
“For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not
always.” (Verse
8)
Lord Jesus, please guide me to always give generously unto
the poor and to help them all I can in accordance to Thy Will. Please create
within me proper compassion and pity for the poor. I praise Thy Name that now
Thou art always with people who believe on Thee, by means of God’s Holy Spirit
dwelling in our hearts. I praise Thy Name, Lord Jesus, that Thou art with me
forever, never to leave or forsake me. Please cause me to ever cleave
steadfastly unto Thee.
“Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they
came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Laz’-a-rus also, whom he
had raised from the dead.” (Verse 9)
Lord Jesus, I worship Thee as the One True Living God Who
raises the dead unto life again. Please show unto me Thy Wondrous Works.
“But the chief priests consulted that they might put Laz’-a-rus also to
death;” (Verse 10)
Almighty Lord God on High, please protect us present day
Christian believers from Thy enemies who desire to harm us and to kill us.
Fight for us, Lord. Please turn those sinners from their wicked, murderous ways
and save them for Thy Precious Name’s Sake.
“Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed
on Jesus.” (Verse 11)
Lord Jesus Christ, I too believe on Thee. Please cause me
to proclaim to everyone that Thou doest raise the dead to life again. Please
help all us Christian believers to boldly proclaim this. Please work in the
hearts of the hearers to cause them to believe that Truth and to believe on
Thee as their Saviour. Make me fruitful. I pray that many souls would believe
on Thee because of my life.
“On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they
heard that Jesus was coming to
“Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried,
Hosanna: BLESSED IS THE KING OF ISRAEL THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.”
(Verse 13)
Lord Jesus Christ, I now come forth to meet Thee, crying,
Hosanna! Blessed is the King of
“And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is
written,” (Verse 14)
“FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF SI’-ON: BEHOLD, THY KING COMETH, SITTING ON AN
ASS’S COLT.” (Verse 15)
Lord Jesus, help me to fear Almighty God and to fear
Almighty God alone. I worship Thee as King, Lord Jesus. Thou art my Lord and
King. I thank Thee for Thy example of humility in riding this donkey. Please
perfect the wonderful virtue of humility in me.
“These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus
was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and
that they had done these things unto him.” (Verse 16)
Almighty Lord on High, please give me perfect understanding
of these happenings recorded here in Thy Scriptures. Please cause me to do unto
Thee all the things that honour Thee most.
“The people therefore that was with him when he called Laz’-a-rus out
of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.” (Verse 17)
Lord Jesus, I desire that my life on earth bear record of
Thee as my All in All. Please grant this desire of mine.
“For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he
had done this miracle. (Verse 18)
Lord Jesus, I too desire to meet Thee. I would see Jesus! I
desire to fully know of all the wonderful miracles that Thou doest do. I desire
of Thee to do miracles for me. Please grant these petitions of mine.
“The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye
prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.” (Verse 19)
Lord Jesus Christ, because Thou art Almighty God, no human
being can prevail against Thee. No force can prevail against Thee. Glory be to
Almighty God for this truth! Please convince us all of the Truth that all
people who oppose Thee perish forever. I pray that now all the people of the
world would “go after Thee,” flocking to Thee to repent unto God, believe on
Thee, and to fully trust in Thee.
“And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at
the feast:” (Verse 20)
Heavenly Father, I praise Thy Glorious Name that the Gospel
of Christ is the Power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to
the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Please cause all Jews and Gentiles to
believe on Thee and worship Thee.
“The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Beth-sa’-i-da of
Lord Jesus, I also greatly desire to see Thee. Please
reveal Thyself unto me. I pray that all souls now on earth would desire to see
Thee.
“Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell
Jesus.” (Verse 22)
Lord Jesus, please cause me to go and tell everyone how
desirable Thou art.
“And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man
should be glorified.” (Verse 23)
Lord Jesus, please help me to fully submit myself unto Thee
for the purpose of Thee being ever so greatly glorified by my life on earth.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall
into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth
much fruit.” (Verse
24)
Heavenly Father, please teach me how to die to self, sin,
and the world so that I might bring forth much fruit unto the Lord Jesus. I
desire to die to all that is God’s Will for me to die unto. I desire to bear
much fruit for my Precious Lord Jesus. Please grant me these desires.
“He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth
his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” (Verse 25)
Almighty Lord Jehovah God, please save me from the selfish
sin of loving my life. Help me to, instead, love Thee with all my heart and to
love my neighbor as myself. Please help me to hate my life in this world in
order to keep it unto life eternal. Please clearly teach me how to hate
my life in this world. Please make me fully willing to lay down my life for
Thee and for Thy Name’s sake.
“If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am,
there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father
honour.” (Verse
26)
Lord Jesus Christ, I desire to serve Thee. I desire to
follow Thee. Please teach me and lead me to serve Thee wholly and to follow
Thee wholly. I desire to be Thy servant to be with Thee wherever Thou art. I
desire for God the Father to honour me. Please hear and grant these desires and
petitions of mine. I pray that all souls on earth would desire these
things.
“Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save
me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.” (Verse 27)
Lord Jesus, please give me full understanding of the
suffering Thou didst endure at this time, just for my sake to save me from the
eternal torments of Hell. I love Thee, Lord Jesus, for loving me so. Please
cause me to love Thee with all my heart and to do Thy Perfect Will.
“Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying,
I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.” (Verse 28)
Heavenly Father, please glorify Thy Name on this earth now
at this time. Please glorify Thy Name on earth thru my existence on earth.
“The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it
thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.” (Verse 29)
Almighty Lord God in Heaven, each and every time that Thou
dost speak to me, please cause me to clearly hear and to clearly discern Thy
Voice. I desire to perfectly know The Voice of Almighty God.
“Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for
your sakes.” (Verse
30)
Lord God, please speak unto me all that Thou doest deem to
be of spiritual benefit unto me. Please always give me ears to hear and to
perceive Thy Voice and grant unto me a heart to obey all that Thou doest speak
unto me.
“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of
this world be cast out.” (Verse 31)
Almighty Lord God, I confess that Thou doest judge all the
human souls in this world. I confess that Thou doest judge the world, which is
the devil’s kingdom on this earth. I confess that Thou doest cast out the
prince of this world who is Satan. I confess that all Thy Judgments and Acts
are just and upright. I love Thee for judging this world and casting out the
prince of this world. Please cause me to fully prepare to meet Thee in
Judgment.
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men
unto me.” (Verse
32)
Lord Jesus, I praise Thy Name for being lifted up on the
cross to die for the sins of the world. I praise Thy Almighty Power to draw all
men unto Thee. Please draw me unto Thee. Please empower me to lift Thee up ever
so high before all mankind by the life I live for Thee on this earth, and thus
be used of Thee to draw all men unto Thee.
“This he said, signifying what death he should die.” (Verse 33)
Lord Jesus Christ, I thank Thee for hanging on the cross
and there dying in my place for me. Please give me full understanding and
appreciation of Thy Great Love for me that caused Thee to die in my place.
Please help me to totally die to self and to live wholly for Thee.
“The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ
abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?”
(Verse 34)
Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou art the Christ, the
Anointed of God the Father. I confess that Thou art the Son of man. I confess
that Thou art Almighty God the Son. I confess that Christ is All. I desire to
know Thee to the fullest extent possible. Grant that desire, I pray.
“Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you.
Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in
darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.” (Verse 35)
Almighty Lord God, I thank Thee that we have the Light of
God with us. Please guide me to walk while I have the Light. I pray that
darkness will not come upon me. Please save me from walking in darkness. Guide
me by Thy Light, in the way I should go. Cause me to always walk in God’s
Light. I confess that Christ is the Light of the world.
“While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be
the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from
them.” (Verse 36)
Heavenly Father, please give me True Faith to now believe
in the Light of God while we have Light. I desire to be a child of light.
Please make me into a child of light. Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou art a God
Who doeth hide Thyself. Thus Thou commandest us to seek Thee. Please enable me
to seek Thee with all my heart while Thou mayest be found. Where art Thou, Lord
Jesus?
“But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed
not on him:” (Verse 37)
Lord Jesus Christ, I worship Thee as Almighty God Who doest
many miracles. I praise Thee for performing many miracles. I believe fully on
Thee. Please work freely in me to make my life into a miraculous life in which
I daily see Thee performing many miracles for Thy Great Glory.
“That the saying of E-sa’-ias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he
spake, LORD, WHO HATH BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HATH THE ARM OF THE LORD
BEEN REVEALED?” (Verse 38)
Almighty Lord Jehovah, please give me perfect faith to
believe all Thy Reports and all Thy Words in Thy Holy Bible. Please reveal the
Arm of the Lord to me. Let me hear the Thunder of Thy Power.
“Therefore they could not believe, because that E-sa’-ias said again,”
(Verse 39)
Lord God, please save me from any inability to believe God
the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Save me from the sin of
unbelief. Cause me to fully believe my Creator God.
“HE HATH BLINDED THEIR EYES, AND HARDENED THEIR HEART; THAT THEY SHOULD
NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES, NOR UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED, AND
I SHOULD HEAL THEM.” (Verse 40)
Almighty Lord God, please have mercy on me. Please do not
blind my spiritual eyes. Please do not harden my heart. Please grant unto me
perfect spiritual vision and perfect spiritual understanding in my heart.
Please convert me. Please heal me. Cause me to know Thee fully.
“These things said E-sa’-ias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.”
(Verse 41)
Almighty Jehovah God, please show me Thy Glory. Please
cause me to speak all the things of Thee that Thou hast ordained that I should
speak of my Creator God.
“Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but
because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out
of the synagogue:” (Verse 42)
Lord Jesus Christ, I pray that many present-day chief
rulers would believe on Thee. I pray that they then would not be ashamed to
confess Thee. Please help me to believe fully on Thee and to never be ashamed
to confess Thee before anyone.
“For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” (Verse
43)
Lord God in Heaven, please save me from the awful sin of
loving the praise of men at all. Save me from such sinful pride. Please reveal
fully to me just what a wonderful thing it is for me to have the praise God.
Please create within me a burning desire to have Thy Praise and to not care
what any human soul says against that. Enable me to love Thee with all my
heart.
“Jesus cried and said, “He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him
that sent me.” (Verse
44)
Our Father which art in Heaven, I confess that Thou art He
Who sent the Lord Jesus Christ into this world. I confess that I believe on The
Lord Jesus Christ as my God and my All. I confess that I believe on God the
Father Who sent Christ. I thank Thee, love Thee, and worship Thee for this True
Faith that Thou hast bestowed upon me.
“And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.” (Verse 45)
Lord Jesus Christ, I earnestly desire to see Thee. Please
show Thyself unto me. By means of seeing Thee, Lord Jesus, I rejoice that I can
thus also see God the Father Who sent Thee. Show me Almighty God’s Great
Glory!
“I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth
on me should not abide in darkness.” (Verse 46)
Lord Jesus, I worship Thee as the Light of the world. I
believe on Thee. Please guide me to daily walk in Thy Marvelous Light. Save me
from abiding in darkness. Fill my soul with Thy Marvelous Light.
“And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him
not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.” (Verse 47)
Lord Jesus Christ, please have mercy on me to cause me to
hear all Thy Words and to fully believe all Thy Words. Please save me from the
sin of unbelief in my Creator God. Save me to the utmost!
“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one
that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the
last day.” (Verse
48)
Lord Jesus, please save me from rejecting Thee. Save me
from rejecting Thy Words Thou hast spoken. Help me to fully prepare to meet my
Creator God in Judgment by receiving and obeying all Thy Words Thou hast
spoken.
“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent
me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.” (Verse 49)
Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou didst not speak of Thyself.
Heavenly Father, I confess that Thou didst send God the Son, Jesus Christ, that
Thou didst give Christ a commandment, what He should say, and what He should
speak. Please cause me to listen to the Lord Jesus and to obey Him and His
Words, knowing they come from God the Father.
“And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:
whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.” (Verse 50)
Heavenly Father, I confess that Thy Commandment is life
everlasting. I ask of Thee this life everlasting. I confess that Jesus Christ
is Everlasting Life. I trust in Jesus for eternal life. Lord Jesus, I confess
that whatsoever Thou doest speak, even as God the Father speaketh unto Thee, so
doest Thou speak. I worship Thee as the True and Living God Who speaketh Truth
only.
Almighty Lord God on High, I pray all these prayers in this
chapter for all human souls now on earth. I pray in the High and Holy Name of
the Lord Jesus Christ. I humbly ask Thee, Heavenly Father, to please hear and
answer these prayers according to Thy Divine Will, for The Lord Jesus’ Precious
Name’s Sake. Thank Thee, Heavenly Father, for hearing and answering these
prayers of mine. How glorious Thou art.
